Toddler Jeneric was in need of a haircut. So was Aunt Kelly. Do you see where this is going?
Step 1. Observe.
Step 2. Try out the chair.
Step 3. Wash that hair!
Step 4. Cut.
Step 5. Blow dry.
Step 6. "One more thing." Toddler Jeneric had keenly watched Aunt Kelly's haircut - all the way to the very end, when the stylist put mousse (or something) in Aunt Kelly's hair. After the blow drying was done, Toddler Jeneric confidently said, "One more thing! One more thing!" The stylist spritzed some hairspray about 3 feet above Toddler Jeneric's head and poof! We were done.
Er, Wily Jeneric Poll. The summary stats are in the upper right-hand corner. Most readers placed their bets on Baby Wily's height exceeding the car seat's limit.
The data are in. Drum roll? (insert funny drum roll noise in your head now)
Perhaps her tall gene has yet to activate. Or perhaps we should cry 'foul!' at the measurement techniques used at the doctor's office. Independent measures of Baby Wily logged in heights of 25.5" and 26.5". That gives us a mean of 25.7 with a StDev of 0.82. Which means Baby Wily is indeed shorter than the 26" limit of her car seat.
(Baby Wily helps Aunt Kelly with the math.)
Next poll: When will Baby Wily's height exceed the maximum limit of her car seat?
Take a tour of block town - note the castle with moat in the foreground. In the back, we have two towers - one for Toddler Jeneric, the other for Baby Wily. Beyond the towers flow several rivers, each with a stop sign.
The story of my trip to Michigan starts with a message on Mom and Dad's answering machine Wednesday night ... "Only 48 hours until I'm home and we're on our way!!"
Next came the stipulations for the car ride... "We can only stop 3 times, once for lunch and one time before and one time after"
I mean come on, I had important people to see!
Toddler Jeneric would like me to mention that there is a huge difference between "napping" and "resting." Below we are resting.
See when you are just resting, you still have time to tickle Auntie Kelly, Grandma, and Grandpa
Determined to get Toddler Jeneric to like sledding, we bundled up and headed for the hill. Grandpa finally convinced her to sit in the sled while he pulled. Unfortunately, we didn't have the camera with to catch the tight corner that ended with Toddler Jeneric face first in the snow. Needless to say, we won't be going sledding again this week.
Back indoors, Toddler Jeneric proved to be a relentless personal trainer. Daddy wasn't allowed to slack on his exercises with Toddler Jeneric counting "22, 28, 28, 28 ..."
But at least she was kind enough to demonstrate the exercise before letting Daddy do it.
In deference to the suggestion of Mystery Politico, a conscientious commenter to this blog, we present Caption This! Friday. Peruse the following photos and, in the comments, leave a caption.
Despite our best efforts - nearly 2 months of regular posting! - the comments at Wily Jeneric remain few and far between. What do we have to do to get a comment out of you people? Change our parenting role model to William Tell?
So go ahead - evolve and leave a comment this week at Wily Jeneric.
(p.s. We in no way mean to insult fans of archery, apples, classical music or Rossini.) (p.p.s. A hearty Happy 150th birthday to our man, Mr. Charles Darwin!)
