Guess Who?

Any guesses what Wily is pretending to be?

Hint 1: They were the class topic for a week at school.

Hint 2: Apparently they have green teeth.

Hint 3: Under no circumstances have I been able to convince either Wily or Jeneric that I can pretend to be one.

Now we are 3!

Somebody had a birthday and we figured before somebody else had a birthday that we'd best post some photos of Wily's little party, complete with balloons!

Cooking with kids, part 1

Every once in a while, magic happens and we discover an easy and safe way to integrate the girls into cooking. Taco salad is one of those meals.

Here we have Wily painting tortillas (and she loves to say tortilla!).


Jeneric is getting fairly handy with a measuring spoon.


And both girls have figured out how to rip lettuce.

Gymnastics

The girls tumbled their way through summer at our local gymnastics center. Here they are at the end, showing off their ta das.

In the book, Madeline, visitors are only allowed from 2 - 4. Lucky for Jeneric and Toddler Wily - our visitors got to stay nearly two weeks!

There was pea picking and shelling (Toddler Wily sat and shelled peas for over an hour!).

In an old house in Paris

The girls are on a kick for Madeline and our local library indulged them last week with a Madeline reading hour and a craft. The hat is really pretty clever (all paper plates/bowls) and the girls had a blast painting.

Happy 4th, this time with fireworks

The fireworks were rescheduled for Tuesday evening. A school night for both girls. Jeneric was not keen to attend (despite zealous enthusiasm Monday evening) because she feared another tornado warning. So we did what any good parents would do.

We went.

A few minutes early, we pulled up some lawn and had a little snack (juice boxes and pringles - what a treat!).

Happy 4th!

We celebrated by doing at least a dozen puzzles. The girls tag-teamed to complete this 100-piece Hello Kitty puzzle.


We made fudgesicles before heading out for fireworks.






We drove about as far as main street before the sirens blared. Yes, a tornado warning at 9:30 pm or so on the 4th of July. We turned around and hit the basement.

Toddler Wily took it all in stride.




But Jeneric is the youngest in a long line of worriers (Great Grandma Z would be proud) and spent most of the time curled up in Jenni's lap.



She was not at all amused by this picture and also informed us that tornado warnings are not a time for pretend, make-believe, or fun.

Been a while!

Our apologies for the radio silence. Life gets a little chaotic when your kitchen is completely torn up and you have to vacate the dining room (so the floor can get redone to match the kitchen - of course!). The girls have helped:



And they're taking an interest in other household activities - especially gardening.


We'll try to ramp up to our regular posting schedule. Until then, a bonus photo that cracks me up:
