Random Wednesday

Someone learned how to do back flips... sort of. And that same someone decided to teach her sister... sort of.

RIF

Reading is Fundamental! Does anyone else remember that ad campaign? It was out around the same time as Woodsy Owl (Never be a dirty bird!). But I digress. Jeneric and Toddler Wily are enormous reading fans. In the past few days, Jeneric has taken to reading to Toddler Wily.





And every so often, the girls convince someone else to read them a story... or four.

Where's the hippo?

For Christmas, Jeneric and Toddler Wily received the fantastic book, Hidden Hippo (thank you!). This is Toddler Wily's favorite book - we read it at least once a day. We caught her on video helping Jenni read the book and find those hidden hippos.

General silliness

Grandma and Grandpa (from Minnesota) visited this week as Jenni and Eric jet-setted around the country.

Jeneric went to ballet class.


There was a trip to the 4H and butterfly gardens.




There was silliness.


And Slinkys.


Silly walks.




And reading - lots of reading.

Spring was here

and we do have proof. See?



But it snowed on Saturday and Sunday was gloomy and cold. Warmer temperatures will return this week and perhaps the Wily Jeneric family will squeeze in a bike ride (or two!).

Disney, Part 4

We'll finish up our Disney series with a bit of random.

We visited Mickey's Speedway where Grammy let Jeneric drive!




We took a spin on Pooh's ride...






Visited Hundred Acre Wood...


Took a twirl on the Mad Hatter's Tea Cups...


Watched the Electric Light Parade...


And played bop the balloon while we waited for the fireworks.


All around, a great day!

Disney, Part 3

If you remember, Jeneric was very excited to visit Mickey Mouse's house. And wouldn't you know, his house just happens to be right on the grounds of the Magic Kingdom?





The best part? Meeting Mickey and Minnie!!

Disney, Part 1

Jeneric was over the moon to visit Mickey's house - aka Disney World.

A tram ride...


and a monorail ride later...



(Bye, bye monorail!)

and we were on Main Street, USA.


First stop, the Merry-go-round.

And once again, Jeneric's fear of large wooden horses takes over and she exits the ride.

Toddler Wily, however, remains for what appears to be a less than thrilling ride.




Much happier as an observer.

Spring Training

While in Florida, we scored tickets to a spring training game - Detroit Tigers versus Toronto Blue Jays. The first inning took a good 45 minutes to play, which resulted in squirrel-y, tired girls.








World's largest portable grill...

The question remains: who did we cheer for? The home team (Jays)? Or the Michigan team (Tigers)? Hint: Lansing Lugnuts.  Final score: 8-5, Jays win.

Guess who taught who to shake their heads like a heavy-metal thrasher?

Animal Antics

Toddler Wily and Jeneric's favorite animals, of late, include anything that hops. Here, they demonstrate the svelte moves of the kangaroo.

Interlude

It's been a while, but a Toddler Wily Interlude for Tuesday.

The backstory: For Christmas, Santa brought the girls cold packs (for their many bumps and bruises) - Hello Kitty for Jeneric and Strawberry Shortcake for Toddler Wily.

The scene: Toddler Wily is putting on Jeneric's Mickey Mouse ears. There is an elastic strap. Toddler Wily pulls the strap down to the floor and releases. There is a smart snap as it recoils against her chin. Tears ensue. Hugs are offered and turned away. Amid sobs, a small "Up! Up!" is heard. Jenni picks her up. More sobs and frantic pointing at the refrigerator. Milk? No. Snack? No. A magnet? No! Jenni leans over and Toddler Wily pulls on the freezer. Open freezer and Toddler Wily grabs Strawberry Shortcake. She plops on the ground and puts it on her chin. And then her head, foot and back to the chin.

Communication? We haz it!
