Our little Chopin
Toddler Jeneric discovered a piano this weekend. And boy, did she have fun! Her rousing renditions of 'The ABCs' and 'Baa, Baa Black Sheep' really brought the house down!

I'm walking, yes indeed
Baby Wily is eager to keep up with big sister Toddler Jeneric. For the past month, she's tentatively taken a few steps here and there. This week, the wheels are clicking and Baby Wily is off to the races.

Camping
The Wily Jeneric family took to the woods for a little camping adventure. Along the way, we picked up a few more folks, a dog and nary a mosquito bite!

Fires are for s'mores.

You mean I'm sleeping here? I didn't know they made adult-sized cribs!

On the first and second day, we hit the beach.

As always, the sand was tasty,

the water chilly,

and the splashing...

excellent.

The best beach days end with a little nap.

Someone was quite proud to carry her beach toys in a backpack.

Ah, tasty breakfast.

Random Monday
A gold star if you can identify what Toddler Jeneric is doing in the following photos (riding on a toy is an insufficient answer and will not earn you a gold star).

What do babies dream about?
What do you think, readers of Wily Jeneric? What does Baby Wily dream about?
(Re: Wednesday's post. We made caramels, which Toddler Jeneric insists are chocolate. At first, she didn't much care for them since we did a quick cool on a few so she could eat one before bed. These turned into hard, inedible blobs. The caramels that cooled normally were much better in TJ's opinion.)

All in an evening
Toddler Jeneric recently requested that we make candy. This past weekend, we obliged.
First, we melted butter.

We added sugar, more sugar and a little cream.

Then we boiled, boiled, boiled. And while we boiled, we played Ring-around-the-rosy.

And put together a puzzle.

So - what candy did we make? And did Toddler Jeneric like it?

Art by TJ
In our ongoing series (did you know it was a series?) we present this week's installment of photography with Toddler Jeneric!
Like all good artists, Toddler Jeneric works with what she knows. The original:

And again - this time with the thumb over the flash.

Toddler Jeneric is learning that some art happens by accident - but not all accidents are art!

Obstacle Course 3.0
We're upping the ante yet again! This time, Toddler Jeneric integrates a table climb with a ball bounce, hop, crawl and a daring couch-leap finish.

Bouncing Around
Toddler Jeneric was clued into a fun place to play by a friend last month and has been working hard to spread the word. She's taken a new group of people each of the last two weeks, getting more and more daring each time. The biggest challenge is an 8' climbing wall to get to the last slide on an obstacle course, which she scaled without assistance after the 3rd try.

(I've already climbed a few feet up the wall in order to spot TJ!)

Interlude: Pink Milk Anyone?
Toddler Jeneric enjoys the occasional bottle for chocolate or strawberry milk as her treat at the end of a well behaved grocery trip. Her chocolate milk ran out at lunch today, so she asked for some pink milk next. Unfazed by the fact that we didn't have any, she suggested I make some. Since I claimed to not know how, she offered the following receipe:
Mustard
Broccoli
Lettuce
I checked if I needed any milk, and she just repeated the above three ingredients. Anyone interested?

The Littlest Worm
Toddler Jeneric is really enjoying silly songs these days and is happy to join in with the singing. On this song, she often protests that it isn't the end of the song when you get to the "And that's the end" verse. Two warnings on the video: it is a bit long (2:24) and please ignore the mess on the table.
She also frequently requests The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, which now includes some new things for the old lady to swallow: Frogs, Bugs, Dragonflies, and Garbage Cans.
