Interlude: Pink Milk Anyone?

Toddler Jeneric enjoys the occasional bottle for chocolate or strawberry milk as her treat at the end of a well behaved grocery trip.  Her chocolate milk ran out at lunch today, so she asked for some pink milk next.  Unfazed by the fact that we didn't have any, she suggested I make some.  Since I claimed to not know how, she offered the following receipe:

Mustard
Broccoli
Lettuce

I checked if I needed any milk, and she just repeated the above three ingredients.  Anyone interested?

Bubbles...

...are now found in some unexpected places.  Yes, that is milk in the pop bottle hooked up to our new home carbonation unit.  Toddler Jeneric is enthusiastic about bubbly water, and was very impressed when she was able to add bubbles to milk.

Drink up, Baby Wily

Baby Wily is an independent girl. She likes to do things for herself. Today's video showcases her drinking skills (yes, that is a shot glass), Toddler Jeneric's helper skills and Jenni's comedic talents.

I do it myself

Feeding Baby Wily is challenging. She does not want to eat mush and she most certainly does not want you to feed her. But, as with most 8 month-olds, her fine motor skills are not up to the task of self-feeding. This has resulted in several meals of Cheerios, Cheerios, Cheerios. This weekend, we discovered another option: messy meals.

By the time she was done, her chair was painted purple, her clothes streaked with goo yet our eardrums and sanity remained in-tact. We'll call it a win.

Gifts for Mom, Part I

Every Mom loves a home cooked meal when she doesn't do the cooking. Toddler Jeneric offered up this unique breakfast on Mother's Day.

Can you name all the ingredients? If your brain's having a little hiccup here's some help:
Goldfish crackers
Kix cereal
NesQuik Strawberry Milk

And yes, she did finish the bowl.

Eh, What's up, Doc?***

Baby Wily often complains vociferously about getting crammed into a high chair and fed all sorts of disgusting things (oatmeal, apples, anything green). In an effort to quell her screams of rage, Eric let her play with her carrots Saturday night. Whoa. Can that girl play.

Carrot on the spoon, carrot on the shirt, carrot on the pants - but oddly enough, no carrot in the hair!

IMG_1027
What carrots? Where?

IMG_1031
Oh, those carrots! Have you seen the pool of carrots up my sleeve?*

IMG_1037
What do you mean I was too messy? Where are my clothes?**

*No clothes were permanently harmed in the making of these images. OxyClean really is magic.
**Somehow nakedness is contagious in the under-three set.

Sour grapes

Well, sour apples and apricots, at any rate.

An unlikely combination

No worse than raw onions, we suppose.

Monday, August 11, 2008

Have we mentioned...

that Toddler Jeneric likes corn?

She likes raw corn:

Cooked corn (what, you can't tell the difference?):

And plastic corn:

Hey - it's modern art!

Adventures in eating: Answer revealed

Despite the plethora og guesses (4, ahem), no one was close to guessing what Toddler Jeneric was scarfing down. Below, we post the full video which includes a close-up of her snack.

(psst! If you can't tell, that's a raw, white onion. Yum!)
