Mash it up...

or not. This post is a mish-mash of images, but it's also the first evidence that Baby Jeneric eats non-mashed foods!

Peek-a-boo. I see you and the duck. Ducky will be mine!

Books are the best toys. Especially super silly books by Sandra Boynton.

Daddy! What are you doing? Can't you see I just woke up from a nap?

Magnets? What magnets? I didn't take any magnets off the fridge. I think one of those cats looks suspicious, though.

September19d
Oh, you mean those magnets, the ones in my hands!

Carrots are good, but carrot pieces are even better (they stick to the hair more readily than the mashed version).

We're not in Kansas anymore

And we're not in New Jersey, either. Two weeks ago, we made a successful move to Michigan and a day later, Jenni began work at MSU.

What have we been doing since our last post? Quite a bit. Here's a brief recap:

1. We went to California for fun and business. We saw family,

friends (look closely, you'll see another human),

and a few animals, too. Baby Jeneric had a fine time exploring the Children's museum in San Jose and was impressed by the sea creatures at the Montery Bay aquarium.

2. Baby Jeneric had her 9-month check-up. Vital statistics are currently packed in another box. She's roughly 22 pounds.

3. Teeth! Baby Jeneric thought August 24th was a fine time to push through her two bottom teeth. A few days later, out popped a top tooth and we expect that to be a pair of upper teeth in another day or two.

Whew. We're sure tired. As we settle in, we promise to post more frequently. Until then, we'll keep searching for a real bagel, a real jug handle and real traffic.

Say what?

Well, most of you who read this little blog already know that Wily Jeneric + Baby will be moving to Michigan this August. There has been some serious grapevine activity, since we told about four people but the entire universe seems to know. Perhaps you'd like some details? Happy to oblige.

Q. When are you going?
A. After Jenni defends on August 24th. Cross those fingers and toes for a successfull defense.

Q. Where are you going?
A. East Lansing area.

Q. Why are you going?

Baby, it's hot outside

Heat like this makes Baby Jeneric thirsty.

Mmm. Water.

Water, water everywhere!

I like to help Dad work. He gets a lot done when I'm around.

A hard day's work means a hard afternoon of playing.

And playing some more.

And sleep.

Wait a minute. I don't remember getting those boxes. What are they for? Mom? Dad? Hello? What's going on?

Here, here!

Oh, how embarrassing. Has it really been that long since we've posted a new picture of Baby Jeneric? Do you know that she raced right past the 6-month mark, barely taking the time to visit the pediatrician (19 pounds, 14 ounces and 26 and a quarter inches tall). Her solid food repertoire continues to expand and now includes oatmeal, applesauce, peas, carrots, bananas, squash and pears (which she will fight you for). Sitting up is old hat as is scooting backwards and she'll be crawling forward soon enough. Though the pictures may not show it, her hair is getting thicker and redder every day. She has a temper (yes, it's true!) but doesn't stay upset for long. Her vocabulary of sounds grows daily and she's managed to eek out a Mum once or twice.

Experiment # 26: Some objects can't be caught, no matter how quick the baby.

Oh, yes. Standing is my specialty.

What's up, Doc?

We left you hanging for over a week on what Baby Jeneric was eating. The title to this post says it all - carrots! Since then, we've moved on to squash (she has a hate/love relationship with squash) and pear (more, please!). Baby Jeneric has also begun to covet glasses (both kinds). She routinely takes sips from our water glasses and can spend hours holding on to a cold cup.

In case you were wondering, Baby Jeneric had her 6-month check-up this week. Our champ weighed in at 19 pounds, 14 ounces and was 26 and a quarter inch tall. Her sit-up skills are top notch, but her aversion to rolling over must be conquered. With a shot in each leg, we were sent packing and told to return in three months.

Baby Driver!
