A picture to distract you from the lack of posts. More to come.

New skill alert: Driving

Toddler Jeneric was observed steering a grocery cart while shopping today. The woman she managed to go around was very impressed. This is a big step up from last week, when she plowed straight into shelves, food, and walls.

The Toddler Fashion Sense

Toddler Jeneric enjoys dress-up, but we do wonder if her fashion sense has been adversely impacted by her grandfathers. To wit:

April4b
Mittens and bib? For roughhousing with Dad? Hmm.

April3a
Is this how you'd wear a sweater?

Still, her favorite dress-up outfit? Yep, you guessed it. Naked.

New wheels

Spring has reared her timid head here in Michigan. With warmer temperatures and sunny skies come outdoor activities. On Saturday, the Wily Jeneric family dusted off the bikes (Eric built Toddler Jeneric's chariot - while Mom and Toddler napped!) and headed downtown for dinner and a quick geocache.

April5a
How long will she be this happy to wear a helmet?

You mean we're done?

In case it wasn't obvious, Toddler Jeneric loves bike riding. She will eagerly put her helmet on, climb into the trailer and happily amuse herself for the length of the ride. We have to work on geocaching. So far, she's not feeling the love.

Case closed

The case of applesauce, that is. Toddler Jeneric slurped the last bits of applesauce with her breakfast on Friday morning (April 4).

April4a
Note the empty case and the jar of applesauce, moments away from the end.

The winner of this contest? East coast Grammy & Grampy, with a very close guess of April 15. We'll be sending some custom Toddler Jeneric artwork your way.

And I did it my way

Going down stairs using the butt scoot method used to try Toddler Jeneric's patience. Too slow, too much work and, truth be told, a little unnerving. In an effort to expand her mobility, Eric taught her a new, improved, super-duper method for descending stairs. Witness: the belly flop!

Step 1: Flip to belly

Step 2: Hesitantly slide one or two steps and get reassurance from Dad.

Step 3: Let go and riiiide!

(note: no rug burn was inflicted in the making of this blog post, and diapers are an excellent guard against wedgies!)

Wednesday is the new random

In the blogosphere, Wednesday is often a tough day for blog fodder. After all, Wednesday is hump day. In light of this, many blogs opt for the smörgåsbord approach, creating a veritable hodge podge of short ideas. With that in mind, we present Random Wednesday at Wily Jeneric.

1. Just my size.
March26
In what may be the latest Christmas gift ever, we finally found the perfect table and chairs for Toddler Jeneric. With an African safari theme, Toddler Jeneric can now color, sticker or whatever to her heart's content. Bonus feature: we located this set in the kitchen, which gives Toddler Jeneric her own work space while Dad's preparing dinner.

2. Finding a good bagel in the midwest.
March30a

March30d
We've concluded that the palate of a midwesterner is distinctly different from a New Yorker. Folks around here love their bagels. We don't. In despair, Eric challenged the Wily Jeneric family to make their own. Above, you can see part of the process and the results - just like La Bagel used to make! Crunchy exterior, soft, fluffy interior. Eight perfect specimens of an east coast bagel.

3. Applesauce update.
At last check, the jar was half full (or half empty, if you're a pessimist). Still in the Applesauce Contest running:
1. East Coast Grammy & Grampy
2. Barbit
3. Mystery Politico
Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion - any minute now. Unless she goes on a 'sauce strike.
