This year, we took our maiden voyage on Memorial Day, visiting a familiar spot – Farrington Lake. We were a bit rusty loading the kayaks and remembering the gear. But most unusual was the fit of Jenni’s life jacket!

Yes, we knew the life jacket would fit differently this year – and boy howdy! Did we ever have to loosen the straps! The sad realization is that Jenni will not be able to kayak this entire season – only until the life vest fails to fit. Happily for you, this brings us to our first Wily Jeneric contest! Guess the date at which Jenni’s life vest will no longer fit around her protruding belly. The winner will receive the honor of naming our firstborn. Erm, scratch that. The winner will receive their choice: a pound of salt water taffy, fresh from the Jersey shore; or, two jars of homemade jam (2006 choices to include blackberry, raspberry and blueberry).
Leave your guess in the comments. The deadline for entries is June 16, 2006. In the meantime, we’ll continue with sporadic* updates of our kayaking adventures and baby escapades.
*Jenni promises to try on the life vest at least once a week, whether or not she actually goes kayaking.

September 9!!
August 12th!
I am hoping for a small but healthy baby so Jenni can Kyack for much longer. So I shall guess....August 21st...no...September 18....No...Sept. 4. One Last long weekend for kyacking!
How about a pool for official birth time?
BTW, did you know that Nov 3rd is also the birthday of Dolph "I must break you" Lundgren? Maybe a tie-in to a baby name to honor him is possible - Dolph, or maybe Randi (if it's a girl, since Dolph prolly comes from Randolph). Just things to think about.
November 3rd. The baby will pick the lock on the life vest on its way out. Btw, you should sign each posting, so we know which one of you is writing. Or else we could guess which one of you it is for each post. So far, all the posts read kind of like the writing voice of Jenni. But maybe that's just because I have less to go on for the writing voice of Eric, because he doesn't email nearly as much.
I was thinking the end of July but I see that is already taken. Instead I'll take July 16.
Greatgrandpa and I think the vest will fit until August 25th. We are being very optimist!! Love the blogging. Greatgrandma
