Dad and Grandpa built the bed last week - with Toddler Jeneric's supervision. After her nap, we flipped the crib mattress into the bed and she hasn't looked back. Toddler Jeneric tucked her doll into bed for a quick nap (complete with two animal friends) as we went to dinner.
As bedtime approached, we asked Toddler Jeneric where she wanted to sleep - bed! she said. We read a story on her bed. We tucked her in. The thunderstorm began. We wondered if that would frighten her - and make her ask for the crib. She made not a peep. Not one noise through crashes and flashes.
Wow, we thought. How did we get so lucky?
We didn't get lucky. We'd forgotten the wee rash Toddler Jeneric's been sporting and the wee teaspon of Benadryl we gave her right before bed.
So there you go - the Wily Jeneric family secret of transitioning a toddler from a crib to a bed: drugs.
