Countdown to Mooring

One of our favorite spring/summer/fall activities is kayaking. Two years ago, we played around with rented kayaks while saving up to purchase our own. Late last spring, we took the plunge, purchasing two Tsunami kayaks. We immediately tested their seaworthiness, taking short trips around the area.


This year, we took our maiden voyage on Memorial Day, visiting a familiar spot – Farrington Lake. We were a bit rusty loading the kayaks and remembering the gear. But most unusual was the fit of Jenni’s life jacket!


Yes, we knew the life jacket would fit differently this year – and boy howdy! Did we ever have to loosen the straps! The sad realization is that Jenni will not be able to kayak this entire season – only until the life vest fails to fit. Happily for you, this brings us to our first Wily Jeneric contest! Guess the date at which Jenni’s life vest will no longer fit around her protruding belly. The winner will receive the honor of naming our firstborn. Erm, scratch that. The winner will receive their choice: a pound of salt water taffy, fresh from the Jersey shore; or, two jars of homemade jam (2006 choices to include blackberry, raspberry and blueberry).

*Jenni promises to try on the life vest at least once a week, whether or not she actually goes kayaking.

Less is more!

Not that many folks are following this blog, but just in case.

Why haven't we been posting? 'cause there's not much to post. All three of us are healthy, we haven't picked out baby names, we don't know the sex, and we haven't started assembling a nursery.

So really, what could we say?

However, we do promise that when exciting news happens, we'll post it immediately.

Woa, Baby!

It occurs to us that our family and friends are flung wide and far across the Unites States and beyond. Our frequent flier miles are limited and airplanes aren't our favorite places. Quite the quandary. Our solution: a blog (short for web log) of our growing family. Here we hope to include regular updates and photos.

Health: Very well, thank you. Morning sickness and fatigue are waning. Cross your fingers that this trend continues into the second trimester.
Nursery progress: None. It's still cluttered with musical instruments.
