The Great 2008 Harvest

Well, our harvest of tomatoes hasn't been that great due to spotty weather and aggressive squirrels (the basil, on the other hand...). Below, we present a few photos of Toddler Jeneric harvesting some very excellent cherry tomatoes (with a little help from Dad).

First, you pick the ripe fruits - only the red ones. No, just the red ones. It's okay if the stem comes with!

Milwaukee

Did we mention we went to Milwaukee? Yes, the Wily Jeneric family headed north (past Chicago, a traffic nightmare) for the Ecological Society of America's annual meeting. While Jenni played the scholar, Eric and Toddler Jeneric explored the sights of Milwaukee (an Art Museum with wings, a Children's museum with Mr. Potato head, the river, cheese shops and more) and learned to have fun in a hotel room.

Have we mentioned...

that Toddler Jeneric likes corn?

She likes raw corn:

Cooked corn (what, you can't tell the difference?):

And plastic corn:

Hey - it's modern art!

Adventures in eating: Answer revealed

Despite the plethora og guesses (4, ahem), no one was close to guessing what Toddler Jeneric was scarfing down. Below, we post the full video which includes a close-up of her snack.

(psst! If you can't tell, that's a raw, white onion. Yum!)

Adventures in eating

Below, we have a short video of Toddler Jeneric's latest gustatory pleasure. Can you guess what she's eating?

Licensed!

Over the weekend, the Wily Jeneric family was luck enough to snag a copy of Mario Kart for the Wii. Jenni loves racing games - guess it runs in the family.

Toddler Jeneric raced for a good half hour, turning the wheel/remote in every direction possible. She came in 12th! (out of 12, with a race time of, well, thirty minutes.)

And just for fun:

Do note the Hello Kitty Uno cards and the vest that is many sizes too small.

Just say No!

Toddler Jeneric appeared to reach another milestone a few nights back, sleeping in her new toddler bed.

Dad and Grandpa built the bed last week - with Toddler Jeneric's supervision. After her nap, we flipped the crib mattress into the bed and she hasn't looked back. Toddler Jeneric tucked her doll into bed for a quick nap (complete with two animal friends) as we went to dinner.

As bedtime approached, we asked Toddler Jeneric where she wanted to sleep - bed! she said. We read a story on her bed. We tucked her in. The thunderstorm began. We wondered if that would frighten her - and make her ask for the crib. She made not a peep. Not one noise through crashes and flashes.

Wow, we thought. How did we get so lucky?

We didn't get lucky. We'd forgotten the wee rash Toddler Jeneric's been sporting and the wee teaspon of Benadryl we gave her right before bed.

So there you go - the Wily Jeneric family secret of transitioning a toddler from a crib to a bed: drugs.
